Annabelle

Me - 2 yrs old chronologically

Hey Annabelle,
I found the magic you were missing!
It crossed my desk
as an afterthought I grasped
like a kite tail.

And here we are my sweet
on nothing more than a patch of the world...
never a place you would imagine, but
here, redwood giants
aging like the old bones of women
creaking against
bees that hover
absent from their purpose,
just looking at us Annabelle!
No sting in sight!

The garden is a start-up
but the tomatoes have had sex
and the babies are on their way,
my mouth wide and watering
for them, pestering my apron.

You'd be happy here, my love
if only you could
cross over
all that shit.

    1. Yes, in all it's glory and grime. We can't even begin to appreciate good, until we have experienced the less than moments :)

    1. I made one (small one) in my circle of redwoods last week. I loved it! (and the mosquitos loved me...so something has to be done about that)

Over the weekend, a friend of mine built me a really girlie lookin' wood stacker as a surprise and filled it with odd leftover pieces of pine from a woodshop. I'm ready to rock and roll the fire pit!

    1. I actually read this poem out loud to someone...something I NEVER actually do...and that line was my favorite part. In fact I loved reading the poem because it is just so personal to my very heart-soul.

  5. Sweet...The tomatoes are a mischevious bunch...something even they cannot help...i might be acting tomatoe-ish myself saying this...but don't those cheeks need a pull ?? ...they still do today....don't they...aahhh love is a news channel that just won't stop asking you to think...it is tiring at times....the questions..the answers...

    1. So true...She still needs her cheeks pinched and her hair tossled. She needs a hellova lot actually. Poor lil' thing. She just looks so damn sad. "Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple."

This is my favorite image. It makes my mind soar like that kite.

    1. Thank you! This actually happened :) I wasn't really thinking about moving out of my ghetto apartment until my kids were out of college next year. But one of my bosses walked by mumbling about a rental he was fixing up and I said, "What...wait! I want to rent it." I went by and looked at it and it seemed my soul perfect home...at least as much as I could get in the city, but they were asking too much. So I let it go. Turns out they interviewed 38 possible renters in a week and didn't feel comfortable with any of them, so they dropped their price and here I am. Annabelle is the name I gave to my inner child who never got to be an outer child :) Here, in this house, she tries.

Wow, fantastic lines ... I love the nostalgic feeling of the poem.

  9. DeLovely. Keep enjoying your patch of the Pretty Blue Planet. But do not let "Annabelle" see the tomatoes having sex.
