Needing My Friend

Yes...we're gambling!

We’ve only our hearts to guide us this day,
where once we were more form than substance
now some kind of strange piñata
the bones of us covered in paste, held as body by crepe paper.

But no matter all that. Our hearts have GROWN
in equal measure to our deterioration and they have become
the governing force.
It is our hearts that beat us through those daily walks
to grease what’s left of our bitching joints.

Beneath these sagging breasts
beats the warrior child, the gator’s jaw
     fighting for
           releasing not
all that remains. We will
reach for our face to face moments...
two old souls, coming ‘round to a new innocence.

Our playground awaits.

  2. She is! A blessing. I've only been face to face with her once...but it was a hell of a face off. They scoff at bloggers being "real" relationships. Her husband calls her bloggers "imaginary friends" :-) But she means the world to me and is quite real, I assure you!

  4. Smiles to you :-)

You hsd your dictionary out, I am needing a hearing aid...all day I have not been able to hear peoples words, but my brain has been trying to supply words to fill the blanks. Not the right words though...

    1. Did I use big words???? Ack. Didn't mean to (as if I know any!) There was an image on a blog, full of a strange language...numbers filling in for consonants. And yet I read it as clearly as if they were there. Our minds fill in all kinds of things...words especially. I'm not sure it's a good thing. But I understand it. The right words will fall into pace in time.

  5. The reality of virtuality of any kind resides in the mind.

There are many forms of communication available to us, many that are quite ancient and well recognized such as song, dance, violence, art, written word, movement. Merely because the electronic vector for communication is still novel, society, as a whole, has yet to adapt and accept (though there are at least two generations that have been born into it now). Which is amusing because often people who have yet to adapt would accept the same thing in another form... E.G. epistolary exchanges...

Others would question the "reality" of emotion derived from the abstraction of conceptual communication (people who feel a need for a physical manifestation of any form of communication, a punch, sex, pie, help moving a fridge, etc), sometimes because they themselves can not communicate honestly in that form (potentially in any other but that is another story).

Any form of communication is an exchange of ideas and emotion, depending on the context (subject matter, individuals, circumstances...) the balance varies, but the truth of any form of communication lies in the worth of that which is exchanged. Friendship is invaluable.

So have fun with your friends and have a ride on the swings for me. : j

    1. I swung on the swings at a friends house the other day. Damn. I felt like I could fly. Why has it been so long since I've done that? Yes....communication has so many forms. My therapist is fascinated with this medium, having no experience with it. We should write a book on the subject ;) and make a million bucks. Do you think we tend to excel at one form of communication? Should we foster it, or try to grow the rest? Do well rounded communicators have an easier time speaking and being heard?

    2. Oh no, I'm not going down that road again. I exhausted myself writing about communication and specifically in relative realities back in uni. So if you want to write a book, you're on your own! : j
Out of curiosity, how old is your therapist?

From my observations, most people do favor certain sets of communication tools (if only due to circumstantial/social reasons)... But excellence is a rare thing, in communication as in anything else.

For instance, I'm a poor dancer... When I can remember the steps and patterns of a dance (which is seldom) I don't really understand the dialogue between me and partner, and then I don't really get how one knows what to do next. That said I won't stop trying: I like foreign languages.

But really, should we focus on one or grow the rest... Isn't that entirely a personal thing? Either path can be chosen, as I see it, the question is which takes us where we want to go?

As for well rounded communicators having an easier time... Generalists generally do, but for specific cases a specialist is best.
For instance, a generalist communicator might be able to write an "OK" book, but it takes an author to write a good book.

      Which are you?

    3. I would like to say author. But I've commercially authored nothing.

I am a good dancer. I know what to do next. Well...that is to say, my body does. But then again, I have never cared for the pattern of dance, just the primal movement of it in the moment. Ballroom? Oh hell. Certainly I would stink at that! I am learning to listen to this body.

Aren't you verbose today! Thank you for sharing here :)

    1. I knew you'd relate to that! This body is always trying to tell my mind what it can do. Nuh-uh. No way. My mind will tell my body what to do until it simply cannot...and maybe even then some. At least that's what I tell myself today.

  9. Damn, Annie-Marie, we were looking good that day. It's a damn shame we didn't win any money. But you did get to get some deep fried gator. Tee-hee.

I'm here, just wading through the slough of despond again...that full moon has been working a number on my head. My kids from TN are coming to visit next week. I put on my glasses and have been sweeping up cat hair for days. They only gave me two weeks' notice. I told them it would take me a month just to dust off my poetry books. AAACK!!! I love you and I miss you, too. (How about a cruise to Bermuda? The rates are probably cheap since it's hurricane season....but what the hell, live and let live, right?) xoxoxoxo

    1. Marion, you're always house cleaning for guests! And it's family...not guests! Let it go, or better yet, put those kids to work ;) A hurricane cruise to Bermuda? We'd have the run of the ship! I'm game. Love you, and your funks!

    2. Secret: the ONLY time I really clean my house is for guests which are far and few between. The last time it got a good cleaning was your visit. Snort, snort. I was cleaning my office closet and found 2 bottles of Apothic Red Wine. I am such a cheap drunk. (They were from my four bottle 'stash' of months ago). I'm having a drink to us and reading a good book. FUCK the housework. LMAO!! I love you, dearest pal of mine. Look out Bermuda...xo

  12. I've made some amazing friends on blogger that I would dearly, dearly miss. Sometimes it's the only reason I keep blogging... not to keep writing out all the crap in my heart but just to connect with those that I have come to love. :)

  15. How wonderful you get to see her! I belong to a messageboard but who says that we have to only know each other through online talks. At the end of this month I will be sitting with 20 of my closest online friends in Washington DC, enjoying each other in person and make new moments we will remember.

This is what blogger and messageboards are all about.

    Lasting friendships!!

I believe we are all warrior children within. Aging is just something that happens. Love you warrior Annie xoxoxox
