Silent Conspiracy

My Muse

I'm not sure
I'm not at all sure we haven't a mute existence between us that is conspiratorial.

The eyes have so much to say!
The slope of your shoulder is brethren to the tremor in my knee.

Together they whisper about the nature of our lives
and bat our wishes between them in the cloistered halls of our monastery.

  3. These words speak forlornly, like watching ships sail by.

    "Tennis, anyone?" (LOL)

    Silence is golden until forced.

  5. It seems both you and Erin found a modicum of inspiration in the same place. It makes me smile; and a beautiful smile at that, the kind that cannot conceal love, that cannot keep it from bursting forth. :)

We share a conspiracy? That would necessitate a certain amount of silence, I suppose. It would also explain why - when we speak - we don't say what we seem to be saying.

I like the feeling that we're all part of a loosely knit community of writers and poets out here. It's unique, the sheer number of voices. I've wondered exactly what this is that I'm a part of. Now I know, Annie. It's a conspiracy. How wonderful! How exhilarating!

"The slope of your shoulder is brethren to the tremor in my knee." I can't begin to tell you how much I love this.

  7. Annie,
if silence were to ever be strangled by conspiracy ,it would be to not cry to lines like these...i'm solemn for my cause after reading this....I will sleep to the knowledge of the fact that somewhere in this world....a woman exists who can actually wrap wine and words...not a better drink they ever made....

  8. Andreas - I was just trying to say that I imagine there are silences we share. That the shape and color of them are...well similar, as they can't be exactly the same. But even having never met, being worlds apart...there are commonalities, and our silences are one. Glad for where the smile landed.

Manik - Silence is the absence of sound. There is no sound here, and yet we communicate with our eyes...reading, reading, reading. I find also in face to face communication, that while the mouth may lie, the eyes are more honest. Body language is more honest. Thank you friend!

  9. Is this about the photgraph?,,,

  10. Glenn - Nope :) The poem didn't really have a stark meaning. Just the ambiguous thought that even our silences can be shared experiences...epic and large. The woman in the photo...her eyes speak. Her mouth is open but her voice is cloistered into the page.

  12. Enjoyed, the conversation with the image, comes through so well.

  13. Ayon - Interesting how you put that. What we share unknowingly. It's so much in the body language. I think that's what I'm getting at. Not only that, but between the lines, between the comments. And yes...I think our secrets long to be shared.

Anthony - Did an image search for B/W Badmitton. This was the first to show. She seems to have so much to say, though the photo silent.

  14. i've read this again and again trying to allow only these words to surface, and not anything perhaps that i do not know, and just now they come, these words, and they say yes, we all share something. there is a truth that might just well be invisible in a giant pot that may or may not be stirred, but which we all drink from. beautiful writing, again, annie.

  15. All too true. I only try to hold people responsible to what they tell me, but I know there's always more going on than meets the eye ... :)
